I’ve stopped in at the end of happy hour on a Friday and on a cloudy Saturday afternoon and Char & Stave was packed, yet welcoming as always! The location is great. The ambiance is cute yet laid back. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and pretty chill. The offerings are both classic and unique. The crowd is always quite mixed, but harmonious - kids to seniors and everyone in between. It feels like a place locals and tourists can enjoy together any day. I’ve brought my tween along and he enjoyed the vibe. Recently, my son had a beignet from a local bakery supplied to Char & Stave and couldn't say enough about it - fresh and delicious. I highly recommend & will return.

I love this place! Coffee-to-cocktails is my fave transition. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, which is refreshing. I do wish they had outlets for laptops, hooks under the bar for bags, and offered some light food options (currently they only have pastries). That said, the drinks are wonderful and the atmosphere is great. Cheers!

Always love this place!! So many drink choices for coffee, cocktails, liquor, mock-tails, tea, etc. it’s such a cozy, laid back environment and very different than a bar atmosphere which I like. There’s outdoor and indoor seating and downtown chestnut hill always looks beautiful it might. While I love the atmosphere a ton, the alcoholic drinks are really spendy and don’t taste very strong, so be prepared to spend a lot of money if you’re going for the alcoholic drinks. The coffee is always phenomenal!

This place is incredible! Such a cool vibe inside the cafe. The coffees/teas, mocktails, and alcoholic beverages are all top tier. Their espresso martinis and hot chocolates are both I have never had a drink I didn’t like here. Trivia is also super fun, plus you can bring your own food from the outside. The staff are all extremely friendly. This is a great place to work during the day or grab a drink for date night. Don’t miss this awesome spot when you’re in Chestnut Hill!

If you need to unwind in a cozy environment this is the spot. For food there are your usual delicious pastries. But frankly they are limited in supply and variety. The shining stars are the vast array of hot and cold coffee and tea drinks that this place has. It's own by a local distillery and they offer many of the hooch( rum, bourbon and whiskey) for sale right in the store. The staff is always ready to offer suggestions for a drink if you steer them in the flavor palate that you desire. Live music is offered on some evenings. This is one of the top 3 coffee houses in Philadelphia.

I wish there were more places like Char & Stave in Philly! This is the perfect combination of a coffee shop and a bar, where you can study, do work, read your book, or go completely opposite and socialize and enjoy a cocktail. So glad they opened this Chestnut Hill location as the Ardmore one tends to get really busy!

This was my first time to Char & Stav. I wasn't sure what to expect. I couldn't tell if there was seating from the pics I saw on google so I added some for the next person wanting to see! (There are tons of tables.) I stopped by at 7:30am. By 8am the place was hopping. The decor is very hip and classic, I liked the music (I cant remember what it was just felt very independent coffee shop vibe) and the barista was very kind and welcoming. They had my go-to coffee milk (oat!) and made a delicious latte with a flower/leaf design in the milk. I liked that the mug had a really interesting handle and it was comfortable to hold. My friend got an herbal tea that was in a glass decanter with a mug on a wooden serving tray. Great attention to detail. It was overall a fun a pleasant experience! I will DEFINITELY go here again.

Such a great new coffee shop and cocktail bar in Chestnut Hill for us remote workers. Service feels very personal and was fairly quick considering how busy this place gets. The atmosphere was really cool with mildly upbeat music that isn’t too loud. We even had some carolers swing by for charity, which was so my fun. The evenings get pretty bustling with an age diverse crowd. Unique and large tea selection, which is sometimes hard to find, and lots of speciality lattes. Lots of whiskey and specialty gin. Note that there is not a place to get food/small bites; you can BYOF or order in!
